Join Jacob as he delves into the 5 most adorable animals that come out in the spring.

Spring is the first season of the year and the greenest of all four seasons. It is a time when everything gets a brand new beginning. Most animals appear during springtime when the temperature is just right, and everything is green, so there's enough to eat. Follow me as I introduce five adorable animals that thrive during springtime!

Rabbit
A rabbit is one of the most common spring animals and is also my personal favorite. A rabbit is a cute furry animal that's about the size of a cat with long ears. There are over fifty different kinds of rabbits in the world, each living in different locations, having different colors, ear types, and more. Have you ever wondered why a rabbit's ears are so long? That's because they can turn their ears 180 degrees so that they can listen out for predators. You might've also heard that rabbits can jump. Rabbits are amazing athletes and can jump as high as 90 centimeters in one leap. Rabbits can thrive during spring because the temperature is around lukewarm, and there are many plants, such as lettuce, carrots, grass, and hay, that they can consume.

Deer
A deer is a light brown animal slightly smaller than a horse with small hooves on each foot and sometimes has white polka dots on its back. Deer can live on every continent in this world except for Australia and Antarctica. A fun fact about deer is that they are excellent swimmers and can swim in bottomless waters like the ocean without drowning. Another more tragic fact about deer is that about 1.5 million deer die each year due to car accidents. Overall, similar to rabbits, deer thrive during spring because the temperature is just right for them, and there's a lot of plants for them to consume.

Swan
A swan is a type of animal native to both land and water, has long curvy necks, and flies high up in the sky. Most people refer to a swan as "The White Queen." Swans can fly as fast as 60 miles per hour and are highly intelligent animals that can remember any living creature, human or animal, that was nice or mean at them. For example, in 2001, a man was camping for a week by a lake and had his leg broken by a swan because he was provoking the swan three days before throwing rocks at it. Swans can thrive during spring because there's a slight breeze in the atmosphere while the temperature is just right. During springtime, the water also starts to unfreeze, resulting in an environment perfect for swans to swim in.

Fox
A fox is a cunning and sneaky creature with long reddish hair, sharp ears, and a long bushy tail. Unlike lions and tigers that only eat meat, foxes are omnivores, which means that foxes eat anything that looks like food, from plants to other animals. The life span of an average fox is about 1-3 human years. Foxes enjoy hunting alone, unlike dogs and wolves that like to hunt in packs. Foxes thrive during spring because of the abundance of food supplies. As the plants are growing again, the animals are coming back from far away lands and hibernation.

Otter
The otter is a semiaquatic animal with a slender body, short legs, and a long flattened tail. Otters have fur that is usually brown with some parts as light brown. Same as swans, otters can be found in all continents except for Australia and Antarctica. Otters were first discovered in 1741 in modern-day Russia when a ship had crashed landed on an island, and the captain saw it. You might think that otters are adorable and cute from their appearance. However, their appearance is very deceiving, especially for male otters, because otters often fight, provoke, or even pet another otter, resulting in the loss of a human hand.

These are five animals that thrive during spring. My personal favorite of the five is the rabbit. What's your favorite spring animal?
