The Secret to Getting Through School
Are you trying not to fall asleep during class? Are you trying not to procrastinate? Are you just trying to survive school? Well have I got the solution for you!
Music. Yes, yes, music is the solution to this problem. Here are some of my top recommendations from someone who listened to 1264 hours worth of music in 2021. I am not joking, one thousand, two hundred sixty four hours of music.
P.S. If you are looking for something in the rap genre - this is not the place for you.
P.S.S Some of these may be explicit.
When you want something calm to ease yourself into the piles and piles of work you haven’t done yet:
Japanese Denim - Daniel Caesar
Daniel Caesar and his soothing voice is always the perfect choice for starting your day (this one is slightly sad though, so don’t focus on the lyrics), however early it may be. This is honestly a song that I will play at any time in the day, but playing it in the morning is always the best.
Something to help you through your depression when you realize you can’t finish the piles and piles of work you haven’t done yet:
I Lost a Friend- FINNEAS
Trust me. Great song to listen to when you are losing your mind and for when you want to cry. Scream the lyrics “I lost my mind, and nobody here believes me” and you will IMMEDIATELY feel better.
Something chill to listen to late at night, while you’re trying to finish those piles and piles of work:
Eternal Sunshine - Lou Val
A pretty slow song, but the beat of the song is perfect for when you’re staying up late to finish your work, this song just radiates late night studying.
4:30 In Toronto - JP Saxe
The piano, the rhythm, the melody, everything about this song is perfect and will accompany you well late at night. Fun fact: this song features some of JP Saxe and Julia Michaels’s If The World Was Ending’s original lyrics.
cowboy like me - Taylor Swift
Produced by Aaron Dessner and a reminiscent of Taylor’s country roots, this song is calm and sad, perfect for you to stay up late to.
Something happy for you to celebrate to when you finish those piles and piles of work:
Exactly How I Feel - Lizzo
Who doesn’t love a little Lizzo? This song is especially upbeat and really satisfying to listen to when you know you have finished your work and that for once in your life, you did not procrastinate and miss the deadline.
777 - Silk Sonic
I had to include Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak. on this list somewhere, and 777 is a perfect song to celebrate your productiveness to.
It Runs Through Me - Tom Misch
A little Bossa Nova, to dance to, to cry tears of joy to, to sing along to. Your choice, but this song will serve you well.
Although these recommendations may not be for everyone, at least these songs work perfectly for me! BRB, listening to the depression songs after I realized how much homework I have piled up.
